On the tracks of the Bedouins (Oman 4/7)

Leaving the mountains behind, yet never too far away, we arrived at the edge of the Sharqiya Sands (also called Wahiba Sands), a 12,400 sq. km vast desert in the East of Oman. Stopping in the town of Bidiya, we were approached by a young Omani who, after an Arabic coffee with dates at his house (part of the service we'd eventually pay for!), guided us through the desert to a nice tourist camp in the middle of the dunes. We spent the night in a nicely furnished (including a bed!) Bedouin tent, enjoying a very quiet night, only hearing the sand lifted by the Kos (wind blowing every night in the region) hit against the tent.
The following morning, we found our way back without any trouble, having fun driving in the sand and pausing to watch the camels walk carelessly along the tracks.

A good sign we were getting close to the desert!
The desert is close even if you don't see it!
